FAQ

About The Nerdy Type

Who writes at The Nerdy Type?

My name is Paula Vaynshteyn, and I'm currently the only writer at The Nerdy Type... unless my daughter decides she'd like to help. Those articles are always fun. You can read one of them here.

How often are new articles published?

There was a time when I was writing every day for hours, getting new articles published daily. I realised that isn't a sustainable way of life, so now I write new articles whenever I have the time. That does mean there can sometimes be longer gaps between articles, but I'd rather publish something I'm proud of than write for the sake of filling the website.

Why is The Nerdy Type free?

The Nerdy Type is free because I believe information should never be locked behind a paywall. I also don't believe in filling a website with intrusive ads. They disrupt the reading experience and can make some websites difficult to enjoy.

Does The Nerdy Type accept guest posts?

I will say this: Never say never. If your idea fits the spirit of The Nerdy Type, I'd love to hear from you. Please be aware that I cannot pay anyone who contributes to the site.

Game coverage

What kind of games do you cover?

I exclusively cover indie games from solo or small team developers. I mostly write feature articles about new or upcoming releases, although I also write the occasional guide or review, depending on what I've got time to write.

How can I submit my game for coverage?

My inbox is always open for developers to contact me. I cannot guarantee that I will be able to cover your game, but I read every email and try to get to every game that's thrown my way.

Do you charge for reviews?

Absolutely not! I will never ask for money to cover your game, and I will never request a review key. If you'd like to send one, that's always appreciated, but I'm equally happy to buy a game myself if it genuinely interests me. Whether I buy the game myself or receive a review key, my opinions are always my own.

Do you prefer games with demos?

Yes! While a demo isn’t required for coverage, I favor games that I can actually play before writing about them. I prefer writing from hands-on experience rather than simply repeating information from a Steam page or press release.

I want to experience what makes your game special, get invested in it, and come away genuinely excited to play more. That enthusiasm comes through in my writing, and I think that’s worth far more to both of us than reducing your game to a few bullet points for the sake of pleasing a social platform’s algorithm.

How can I get in touch?

My email and social links can be found on the Contact page.
