The Knightling: All Forgotten Coin locations and quest rewards

While you’re waiting for Sir Lionstone to make his way back to you in The Knightling, you’re going to set out in search of people to help and quests to complete. One of the earliest quests involves you finding five Forgotten Coins, scattered across the Outskirts, and there are no hints about where they could be. 

It’s always fun when a game challenges you to find that metaphorical needle in a haystack, and The Knightling certainly does that with the Forgotten Coins of the Outskirts side quest. It’s an easy quest to pick up, but completing it certainly comes with challenges. 

The Forgotten Coins of the Outskirts quest can be picked up from Cassie, the retiring guard in the ruins to the south of Dyer’s Acres. They need money, and the Forgotten Coins are worth a lot, but they can’t leave their post. That’s where you come in. 

Forgotten Coins of the Outskirts: All coin locations

Coin #1 – Dyer’s Acres

The first coin is by far the easiest to track down, because it’s about 10 feet away at the base of the ruins where you picked up the quest. Head down the stairs and turn to the right, then right again to find a golden glowing item hidden in the alcove on the Eastern side of the stairs.

Coin #2 – Dyer’s Acres

The second coin is slightly more of a challenge to track down, taking you a little venture toward the east.

Head towards the diagonal square ruins on the map, east of the original ruins where you picked up the quest, and go around the back of the building. Between the building and the water’s edge, you’ll find the second Forgotten Coin. 

Coin #3 – Hills of Nourishment

To make things easier, you should unlock the Cartographer Lookout in the Hills of Nourishment before trying to track down the third Forgotten Coin. Doing so is fairly simple; just make your way up to the tall curved wall and then walk towards the tower itself to let the ladder down. 

Once you’ve done that, head to the ruins in the southeast corner of the map, following the main road. Once you see the entrance to the ruins, blocked off by the guard, head to the left and locate the glowing golden spot close to the wooden fence to get the third Forgotten Coin. 

Coin #4 – Hills of Nourishment

You can stay within the Hills of Nourishment to find the fourth Forgotten Coin, traveling north from the location of the third one until you get to the curved, raised river. Just to the east of this area’s Stamp Shop, you’ll find the fourth Forgotten Coin in the ground at the base of the raised section.

Coin #5 – Weaver’s Estate

Head north from where you found the fourth coin and unlock the Weaver’s Estate Cartography Lookout to unlock this new area of the map. Head west until you hit the diagonal set of ruins that takes up both sides of the river. You’ll need to go under these ruins to find the fifth and final Forgotten Coin, but make sure you go prepared.

There are a lot of enemies down here, and you’re going to get caught up in a fight regardless of how sneaky you think you can be. If you want to make things easier on yourself, run in and snatch the coin, then hotfoot it out of there to safety. 

Forgotten Coins of the Outskirts rewards

The only actual reward for completing this side quest in The Knightling is a Knapsack Patch. Finding six of these will permanently increase your storage capacity, so they’re well worth hoarding whenever you can. 

Other than that, it’s pretty much all satisfaction and bragging points, but isn’t that half the fun?
