One of the most enjoyable parts of The Knightling is completing the many side quests that can be found in each area. Some of these quests are more challenging to complete than others, and some even have you looking for items with no clues on where to even begin looking. That’s the case with Hide and Reek.

Hide and Reek is a side quest that’s available in Clesseia, and similarly to the Forgotten Coins in the Outskirts, this quest challenges you to find five stinky kids hidden across the city in an attempt to avoid having a bath. As a parent, this is highly relatable content for me, and I can talk you through completing this fun little side quest.

This quest is picked up by talking to Julius, who can be found on one of the porches near the river in Clesseia.

The Knightling: Locations of all kids in Hide and Reek

With kids hiding themselves away all over the city, it can be a struggle to figure out where to look. The easiest way to do this is by using the clue given by their dad, Julius, when he mentions that they could be anywhere from the entrance to the Palace Gardens. Head up to the palace, and you can work your way down from there.

All of the kids are easily spotted once you get close, thanks to the green stench that’s emanating off of them. This stench will transfer to you upon talking to each kid, but you can get rid of it by taking a dip in any water you can find.

Kid 1

Once you’ve reached the top of the city and you’re looking up towards the stairs to the Palace Gardens, head left until you find a circular flowerbed. The first kid is hiding at the back of this flowerbed.

Kid 2

Head back to the main stairs and then turn until you’re looking down the main street of the upper part of Clesseia, with the library at the opposite end. To the left of this street is a small patch of flowers, and the second smelly kid can be found behind it.

Kid 3

The third kid is slightly harder to find, with more distance to travel before you track them down. Head down the main path towards the library, then take the stairs to the left once you get to the statue. At the bottom of the stairs, turn 180 degrees to the left and find the kid hiding in the shadows next to the stairs.

Kid 4

Go back up the stairs and then head southwest, past the fountain and down the other side. Follow the path to the right, then take the stairs on the left. The fourth kid is hiding in the little alcove of the square that you enter at the bottom of the stairs.

Kid 5

The fifth and final stinky kid is probably the hardest to locate, and you’ll need to head southwest into the cave system that leads to the Outskirts. Once you go through the giant arch that separates the cave from Clesseia, head to the east and around to the back of the houses inside the cave. The final child is hidden behind the houses, and talking to them will send them running to the nearest water.

Once you’ve found all five kids, head back to the lake in Clesseia and towards the quest marker, finding all five kids clean and much less stinky on the edge of the water. Then, head back to Julius to complete the quest and collect your rewards.

Rewards for completing Hide and Reek in The Knightling

As with most side quests, Hide and Reek provides you with something that you cannot get anywhere else. The reward for completing this quest is a Knight Collection Card depicting a knight from the Windtorn Fields called Amalthea. You’ll also get 80 food, which is always useful.
