If you want to know more about Sir Lionstone in The Knightling, and learn about his history before he ever took you on as a knightling, you can turn detective and complete a side quest called “Lionstone’s History”.

Lionstone’s History is an investigative side quest, featuring no combat but a lot of background lore and secrets. To complete it, you’ll need to head east and help a farmer with a weed problem and a few other chores. Nobody said being a knightling was a glamorous job!

Where to find Lionstone’s History

Lionstone’s History can be picked up by talking to a straw-hatted farmer in the Outskirts. In an attempt to figure out where Sir Lionstone has disappeared to, he will tell you that you may find some hints at an overgrown windmill in Spinner’s Coast.

Suppose you’ve already unlocked the Cartographer’s Lookout in Spinner’s Coast. In that case, this will be a relatively easy location to find, as it is the second windmill directly to the southwest of the lookout. If not, I’d recommend unlocking the lookout first, which can be made easier by purchasing a Lookout Stamp from any Stamp Shop in the Windtorn Fields, then heading to the windmill.

Either way, you can spot the windmill you need pretty easily, because it’s the only one that isn’t spinning in the wind.

Investigate the farm

Once you get to the windmill, there are a few things to do. You’ll need to complete four tasks in three locations inside the relatively small Investigation Zone to progress the quest, but there is also an optional treasure chest to open on the cliffside of the house.

Remove the upper mushroom

On top of one of the barns, there’s a bouncy mushroom that you can jump on to help gain access to the balcony level above the main house. Up here, there is a giant purple mushroom on the floor, a target that you can throw your shield at, and a cage.

Throw your shield at the target, then find the box under the cage with a tap on it. Move the box to the area where the target is, then throw your shield at the target again to lift the flap that’s now blocking the mushroom. Place the box over the mushroom and then toggle the tap to remove the mushroom and get the sails spinning again.

Inspect the lower mushroom

Jump down from the balcony level and head to the northwest-facing garden, then locate a mushroom the same as the one you just got rid of on the balcony level. After you inspect it, you’ll need to take a few steps back and slide across it using your shield, revealing that it makes you very fast.

Investigate the shed

Inside the same shed with the bouncy mushroom, head into the back section and interact with the dummies on the left side of the room to inspect them. After doing that, walk back towards the entrance of the shed and look right to find some organized bottles against the wall. Inspect them, and you’ll then be able to talk to the farmer, who will eventually send you off to a new and secret location from Sir Lionstone’s past.

Investigate the ruins

If you run north from the farm, you’ll easily spot the dark grey ruins in the distance. This is the next location of this quest, and it’s worth noting that this is a bandit camp, so you’re going to have a bit of a fight on your hands.

Once you’ve taken out the bandits and collected the treasure reward for clearing out the camp, jump up onto the cliffs on the eastern side of the valley and throw your shield at the target to open up the secret location. The items you need to inspect inside are marked with quest markers, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble here.

Lionestone’s History rewards

Interacting with everything in the room will complete the Lionstone’s History quest and reward you with a Knapsack Patch, a Slice of Panforte, a whole Panforte, and a new side quest to complete called “Through the Cracks”.
